The 'Horn of Lucretius'

Von Tiddenheim has found evidence that an important artefact, the 'Horn of Lucretius', was hidden in the roman ruins at Rutbrint in Albania; he has made his way to the area with a small detachment of German paratroopers.

Also aware of this important artefact is Major Crichton Odd, who has got permission to dig there from the Albanian authorities. His party has made its way to the nearby Monastery of St Geralds, with a small escort of Albanian troops.

When they got back to the village von Tiddenheim had time to open the chest - all he had found was a hoard of gold coins.  Still worth a fair penny, some return for their trouble. If only he had more time he must have read the inscription wrong...

Crichton Odd had examined the inscription on the statue and had done his digging in the remains of a small villa, the old chest fell apart as he tried to open it - inside wrapped up in an old cloth was the golden Horn of Lucretious ...
