While the main column marched to the relief of Fort Lepoulet near Bourek (see here ); the 1st FFL Marching Company was tasked with protecting their northern flank. They were sent to occupy the small town of Keneffa (which sits astride the main route through a hilly rocky area).
---oXo---
The FFL column approaches Keneffa....
Their arrival has been spotted.....a view of the town...
The opposition assembles and starts to advance...
The attackers move forward towards the town....
closing in to attack the FFL......
Steady firing from the FFL drives off the camel mounted attackers, but more are coming in on foot....
A tight tussle on the edge of the town.....
The FFL repel the attackers who retire back to reform....
The second wave of attackers on foot, reach the defending FFL.....
The Spahis make their move.....
another attack repulsed by the FFL....
The Spahis follow through .....
and drive off the remaining attackers.....
