Evil Villain's Lair - trial table setup ...

I've had a fiddle over the last couple of days trying out a potential table setup. The aim was to use only stuff I had for the setup to give me some idea on how much I'd need to make (as a one off game, any new scenic pieces would have to be disposable).

The basic table coming together, the underground part on the left ...

the surface approach zone ...
The underground section with black back drops .......laid out with what bits I had to hand ...
The nefarious device ...
the surface section I can do easily; missing stuff for the underground lair - a few more rooms and corrdiros needed.

Bits and Bobs ...

A election of figures painted in the last couple of weeks or so....

For the desert ... some arabs and a Foreign Legion officer

Some pulp oddments ....
Some civilians, these are plastic Cluedo figures near 30mm in size (I spotted an old Cluedo game with the figures in a charity shop - one of the figures was missing from the box amongst other bits)

Opposition for the Foreign Legion (WIP)

Tauregs ... mostly made by Redoubt Enterprises (purchased off Ebay)...

Nominal period chosen is early 1900's, so most would have firearms muskets or old rifles. I've fitted the figures wielding swords and spears with a musket slung over their backs.

now have a total of twelve mounted on camels
Those on foot which had a sword/spear only have been converted to carry a musket/rifle
about 40 on foot based up...

Desert table changes...

I wanted some summer blue sky backdrop boards with minimal clouds to reprsent being a bit deeper in teh desert. I bought a set of summer sky ones made by Art Printers ID Backscenes. These I  fixed with spray mount adhesive onto white faced hardboard.

the basic setup with the sandy'ish coloured felt I use for the table surface....
I only had enough dune sections on cardboard for one end of the table and made up some more to get be down most of the back of the table.  Here is a setup using my felt covered lumps and bumps with the card backed dunes and other bits placed against the back scene boards.
Camel caravan on the move...
and of course my French Foreign Legion fort ....
